Nigeria's Abubakar Hamza jailed and fined for living as a woman
Abubakar Hamza became a celebrity in northern Nigeria when he was arrested for pretending to be female. Sentenced to six months in prison and fined $38, Judge Lawal Isa Rabo told him, "It is hoped that you have learned some lessons during your trial and I hope you will be of good character and desist from this immoral behavior of posing as a woman." Hamza, 19, who made a living selling herbal aphrodisiacs to women, appeared in court dressed in a pink kaftan and matching cap saying he is now "a reformed man."
