Channel 4’s Why Men Wear Frocks highlights Grayson Perry
Grayson Perry, 44, captured the world’s attention when he went up to accept the 2003 Turner Prize in a satin daisy-sprigged dress embroidered with the word sissy. Perry’s mother told his then-fiancee and now-wife Philippa Fairclough, “You must be desperate to marry a transvestite{” when the two were engaged. UK Channel 4’s Why Men Wear Frocks airs tonight at 9pm and while the show explores what it feels like to be a transvestite the pain, humiliation and triumph, the interview here is revealing in its own right.
