Brownsville gay bar Heart Rock Club torched by arsonist Arson is being blamed in Brownsville for a fire that basically totalled the Heart Rock Club, a gay nightclub that once proudly displayed a 25-foot gay pride flag over its doorway. It took nearly half a dozen fire trucks several hours to extinguish. Owners called it a hate crime directed against Brownsvilles gay community. What else could it be? owner Sylvia Armente said outside the club. First the inside of the club was vandalized and then the building was gutted by flames. Assistant Fire Chief Randy Russell said, They started fires in four or five little areas on the floor and on some furniture.�
