Mary Lou Wallner takes on the homophobic rhetoric Queer Day has a big love for Mary Lou Wallner, not simply because her lesbian daughter Anna, 29, committed suicide, but because Wallner's still taking on the rhetoric that facilitated Anna's demise in speaking out about the "untruths taught by the church." The Little Rock, Arkansas, resident told a Washington state congregation about the guilt she felt and how the circumstances have changed her life. "I committed a hate crime," she said.
