Canadian gay marriage supporters protest while Bill C-38 stalls
Canadian gay marriage supporters protest while Bill C-38 stalls Canadian supporters of same-sex marriage gathered on Parliament Hill to say enough debate - make Bill C-38 law now. "I think the timing is perfect for us to be here," Erin James said at the protest. "We want them to pass the bill before this summer's out." The bill is actually stalled in the House of Commons and last week Prime Minister Paul Martin said the marriage bill would likely have to wait until the fall, as it was unlikely to pass before Parliament breaks this week. On CTV's Question Period, Deputy Prime Minister Anne McLellan, pictured, said, "we've seen some obstructionist tactics from the Conservative party. We could get (38) ... by the end of next week truthfully ... if the Conservatives cooperate."[Date: 21-Jun-05 ]
