The Roundup

Canada: Hutterites told the federal government that same-sex marriage will make Canada into Sodom and Gomorrah, complete with fire raining down from heaven. Note to self: Buy asbestos hat.

U.S.: Tennessee House Speaker Jimmy Naifeh says he won't stop a bill seeking a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage and couldn't if he wanted to. The same-sex adoption ban proposed in the state has only slightly less momentum.

In East Texas, a debate on gay rights began with the Rev. W.N. Otwell's comments that "the secular humanist public school systems and universities have become hot beds and recruiting stations for the sodomites for many years now." To their credit, the audience burst out laughing.

New Zealand: Scary, militantly homophobic minister Brian Tamaki has promoted himself to Bishop Tamaki. GayNZ quips that this will allow Tamaki to ask journalists to stop bashing the bishop.
