Transgender adolescents win right to block puberty
Transgender adolescents win right to block puberty In Australia, five NSW adolescents won permission to undergo the first stage of gender-transitional treatment in NSW Family Court. In an application supported by family members, Dr. Louise Newman called for the use the hormones to delay pubertal changes because they would prove distressing and unacceptable to the child. Lawyer Rachael Wallbank, pictured, a transsexual herself, said she presented the Family Court with evidence that puberty-blockers were reversible and could save the child from self-harm or suicide. [Date: 25-Jul-05 ]
