Lesbian divorce challenge in Iowa ruled invalid

Lesbian divorce challenge in Iowa ruled invalid A Sioux City lesbian couple had a civil union ceremony in Vermont, where it's legal. Later on, at home in Iowa, they wanted a divorce and a Woodbury County judge granted them one. So conservatives challenged it, saying they shouldn't be allowed to divorce. You see, they don't want us together and they don't want us apart either. Today the Iowa Supreme Court ruled on the case, whild avoiding the big question altogether. "This issue before us is not whether the district court was correct or incorrect in dissolving the Vermont civil union. Rather, the issue is whether these plaintiffs, as nonparties in the action before the district court, have a right to challenge the decree. We conclude that they do not have such a right," said Chief Justice Louis Lovorato.
