California gay marriage gets no help from federal court California: U.S. District Judge Gary Taylo delivered a setback to gay marriage, upholding the Defense of Marriage Act which recognizes only unions between a man and a woman. The case was brought by an Orange County gay couple who were denied a marriage license. Taylor abstained from addressing California's ban.�
