Andre (or Andrea) Guthrie bank robbery tests gender identity Cross-dressing college student Andre Guthrie, 22, pulled a toy Glock on four Sovereign Bank tellers in Lowell, Massachusetts during his alleged bank robbery. He was wearing an auburn wig, bra and make-up at the time - which is problematic in that being convicted of armed robbery "while masked" requires a minimum of five years behind bars. His lawyers say he wasn't "masked" and was merely displaying his female alter-ego, Andrea Guthrie. In an affidavit Guthrie said, "I dress as a woman as much as possible and socialize with a similar and like-minded community. I have been exploring both elements of my psyche for the last eight or nine years.'' Throughout the robbery Guthrie threatened to shoot someone if they didn't give him the money. They did, nearly $20,000.�
